Default The boys and I had an epic weekend of hunting

I had the best weekend of deer hunting I have ever had this weekend....

Dillan has been wanting to shoot a deer with my .30-30 for a few years now. He asked if we could take it Saturday instead of his rifle so we loaded it up and went. About 7:50 this buck stepped out and Dillan dropped him in his tracks. We were both pumped up! His first 8 pointer.

That afternoon, Tristan was back up to bat and I gave them the go ahead to shoot does if the opportunity presented itself. At 5:57 a doe stepped out about 75 yards away and Tristan dropped her in her tracks with a perfect shot. At 6:42, 3 more does made there way into the danger zone Tristan leveled off on the biggest one and smoked her too! She made it maybe 20 yards and piled up. The first doe was "normal" sized but the second one was absolutely huge. The little fella was fired up! He wanted me to put blood on his face even though he killed 2 deer last year

Now that Tristan was on the board, he wanted a buck. We went Sunday morning and saw a spike and a 3 pt but he wanted something a little bigger. Sunday afternoon found us back in the stand again and at 5:40, a small doe popped out with this guy on her tail. They took their sweet time making their way in and he was locked on to her every move. Once he cleared some brush, Tristan dropped him where he stood and got his 2 and biggest buck yet. Not too shabby for a 7 year old in my opinion.

I couldn't be more proud of the desire all my kids have to hunt and their shooting ability. All 4 deer were between 75-100 yards and both boys put the shots where they needed to be.

Amber Faith is up to bat and the rut is around the corner so she will hopefully get the chance to get a good one too. For the buck's sake, he better get skinny because she is a sniper too!

So happy for and proud of those fellas. Great job Dillan, Tristan and you too Steven.

Amber Faith is about to lay the smack down. That is if a buck worthy of her bullet steps out.

Not sure it should be legal to have that much fun in a single weekend. Congrats again. Best hunting story I have read about all season, anywhere...next to Lackey and I's youth opener of course. That is what its all about right there. Hats off to you Farr. I swiled reading along with you on FB and I am smiling again reading it this morning. Just good stuff.

Thanks yall. I may screw something up on a daily basis but I know I did right by getting my kids into hunting. I have more fun than should be allowed watching them hunt.
