10/28/87 Allatoona WMA spike at daylight on the first morning of the hunt. I was with my uncle, my best friend and his Dad.
Walked about 3 miles after killing the deer to find my uncle cause I didn't know how to gut one. Got my picture in the local paper and a few days later, one of teachers wanted to know how come my Mom sent an excuse for my absence saying I was sick ![]() Yeah, I remember! |

Yep.
1992 for me in Hancock C. Trophy 4pt on opening weekend of rifle season. Dropped him on the spot around 100yds out in a clearcut.Took me a couple of years to actually kill one! Earlier that same year I shot what would have been my first deer in Rockdale C. with my bow. Little 8pt.. First deer I actually drew blood one... Never found him... The years before that, missed a few does with a rifle........ Took me a little bit to get the hang of it! ![]() ![]()

it was either 88 or 89. last day of PA archery season. After passing many doe for many years hoping to get a buck I tagged a buttonhead at about 10 yards. made a terrible shot and had to finish him off with a second but I got him.

I had a rocky start to my deer hunting career to say the least. Right as I came to the age to start hunting on my own, my mother passed away and for the next several years opportunities to go hunting were few and far between. After that I started to hunt a little more, but I got so nervous that I missed the first deer that I saw. And then I missed the second, and third, until I had eventually missed 6 or 7 deer I think over the course of 4 or 5 seasons.
Neither me or my dad could figure out what I was doing wrong. Of course I was nervous but it was more than that because I was having trouble shooting even for practice. Finally we realized that my contacts made it almost impossible for me to shoot iron sights for whatever reason and since that time I have had a scope on all of my rifles. I finally killed my first deer 3 years ago. It was a doe that I shot at about 50 yards with my Marlin .30-30. Since I killed that doe 3 years ago, I have not had a chance to deer hunt at all due to school and work. I'm in a new club this year and hope to add to my embarrassing record.![]() ![]()

Killed the second deer I ever shot at in Greene County on a 59 acre lease from Mr. Roach....the first was a Huge 9 pointer that I hit with my bow but never found
mr. Corley who taught me how to hunt saw the buck that same morning and described the rack....unique deer. The opening day of Doe Days I shot a Doe that ended up being a spoke like the deer Arra has been posting....one inch spikes laying back on his head. Bruz

Heard County 6 pt. Think I was 13. Opening morning of gun season he came walking up a oak draw. Dropped him on the spot with my .243. My dad and uncle were also hunting that morning. They made it a special moment with the way they congratulated me and so on. I can replay almost every moment of that hunt.

I think it was 1985...new year's day. Last day of season and last doe day (remember those?!?!
) My dad put me in a stand while he and my uncle cut firewood about 500 yards from my stand. Nailed her with a H&R single shot, iron sight dirty-30. ![]() |

Button Buck Benton County Iowa, December 26, 1989. I shot him with a TC hawkin 50 cal. It was Iowa's late muzzleloader season. I started hunting deer in 1986, and until that day in December of 89, when I finally scored, I had invented ways to miss and screw up on deer.
